I cannot say that I entered the escort agency industry by accident, that would be simplistic and disingenuous. But I did not start out in this industry from some yearning to be in the adult or sex industry. Prior to identifying the industry as a likely one for me, I was not especially interested in any facet of the adult industry. I was not especially interested in porn – well no more than the average healthy male anyway. I had never been to a strip bar, lap dancing joint or gentleman’s club. I had never slept with a prostitute or had a rendezvous with an escort. And, to the best of my knowledge, none of my friends or colleagues were especially involved in the business either.
So I cannot say that I was in any way drawn into the business through the process of turning my hobby into a job. For me, the sex industry was certainly never a question of that old saying that if you do what you love you will never have to work a day in your life. Sure, I had a high sex drive and enjoyed sex but it was not the defining factor of my life. So some kind of career or business in the sex industry would never have been foreseen as any kind of destiny. I did not even go to swinger clubs. My business life leading up to embarking on my life as a smut peddler had certainly not been conventional, but nor was it one from which anyone could predict this latest adventure.
I started my first business when I was thirty after a spectacularly mediocre career in logistics and latterly in sports goods marketing. Well, OK within the small pool that is logistics in the United Kingdom I had actually been quite successful. I was selling outsourced international logistics solutions. Which fundamentally meant taking on responsibility for a company’s international transport; road, sea and air, and putting out own staff into the client company to take over from the people that became unemployed as a result of our intervention.
